Meet The Founder, Morgan (Shelton) Phelps

The Story Behind Think Tank

Think Tank was inspired by my journey as a woman of color, transitioning from journalism into public relations.

Agencies understood the value of my journalism background and insider knowledge, but without industry experience, they didn’t know how to place me within their staffing structure. I was too experienced for a junior position, yet employers were leery of the learning curve involved with a career change and thus, uncomfortable hiring me for a senior role.

The trick was gaining hands-on experience by freelancing for a small PR firm. That gave me the resume boost I needed to finally break through.

I successfully transitioned into the industry because someone gave me a shot – so, I’m extending the same help and support to others.
